Hepatitis A, typhoid, tetanus and yellow fever vaccinations are recommended for most travellers to Ghana. Yellow fever vaccination is recommended from 9 months of age. Depending on individual risk, cholera, hepatitis B, meningitis ACWY and rabies vaccinations may also be recommended. Dengue, chikungunya, measles and tuberculosis are other travel health risks to consider.

Do I need malaria tablets for Ghana?

Yes. Malaria risk is high throughout Ghana, so malaria tablets are recommended wherever you are staying. Our pharmacists can discuss malaria prevention alongside your vaccinations and yellow fever certificate.

Is a yellow fever certificate required for Ghana?

Yes. Ghana requires an international yellow fever vaccination certificate for all travellers over 9 months of age, and vaccination is recommended from 9 months for your own protection. The certificate is valid for life once issued.

Do I need meningitis vaccination for Ghana?

Not everyone does. Ghana is part of the meningitis belt of sub-Saharan Africa, and meningitis ACWY vaccination is recommended for travellers at higher risk.
