Dengue Vaccine at a glance
Dengue is a viral infection spread by day-biting mosquitoes in tropical and subtropical areas. These include parts of Asia, the Americas, Africa and the Pacific. Most infections are mild, but some people develop severe dengue. A second infection can be more serious than the first.
The dengue vaccine is a live vaccine for people aged 4 and over. In the UK, it is usually recommended for people who have had dengue before and are travelling to an area with dengue. Our pharmacists assess suitability. Mosquito bite avoidance remains important after vaccination.
The course is two doses, 3 months apart. Book as early as you can to allow time for both appointments. The need for a booster has not been established.
Dengue vaccination costs £140 per dose, or £280 for two doses. No payment is taken when you book.
